Summer School

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

We regret to announce that VCE Summer School (VCESS) will not be running in January 2024. This website is kept updated with the latest information. If you would like to speak with someone, contact volunteering@union.unimelb.edu.au

Dear All,

We hope this message finds you well. We are sharing an important update regarding the University of Melbourne Student Union (UMSU) VCE Summer School (VCESS) program for January 2024.

Over the last six months, UMSU has been reviewing its strategic roadmap. We commenced an appraisal of our volunteer programs in 2022, and this year we have undertaken to review VCESS. This has involved consultation with multiple stakeholders, including UMSU members, key University of Melbourne staff, and volunteers in the program. VCESS student participants and volunteer tutors are regularly invited to provide feedback as part of the annual program delivery.

Given UMSU’s incredible 50+ year history delivering this program annually and the size of the program for a not-for-profit student union, we need time to conclude our review. Consequently, UMSU has decided that VCESS will not proceed in January 2024.

We are sorry that this news will be disappointing. However, this decision is essential to enable us sufficient time to ensure the best outcome for our University of Melbourne student members and volunteers, who are critical to delivering the program. We are committed to providing a wide range of student support programs and elevating student voices, and ensuring we undertake regular evaluation of our programs.

We value your views and feedback. If you would like to discuss VCESS 2024, or if you would like to provide us with any feedback about VCESS as part of our review, please contact volunteering@union.unimelb.edu.au
